日本人のちょっとしたことで、つい言ってしまう「すみません。」。自分では何気に言ってしまう一言ですが、それが相手と自分に対し、とってもポジティブな雰囲気を醸し出すなんて、通勤電車の中での日本人の寛容さなんて、私が日頃考えもしなかったことを著者が思っていたなんて。改めて、「へえー、そうなんだんだ。」と思ってしまいます。
欧米人がお箸を上手に使っている時、私は心から感心して、「お箸を使うのが上手ですね。」と必ず言っていましたが、米国人の著者にはその様に感じるのか、と以外に思いました。話のきっかけ以外では良くないことなのかしら、と痛感しました。日本人が何気にしている言動、それがアメリカ人にはこう移るのね、と考えさせられました。

さらっと読める一冊。
日本に住む作者から見た、日本とアメリカの文化の違いをシンプルな英語で表現しています。
日本とアメリカの男性の違い、時間に対する意識の違いなど「当たり前」が
当たり前でないのかもと、少し考えるきっかけにどうぞ。
章の区切りが短く、テンポよく読むことができます。バックに入れて連れて
行ける大きさの本なので、お出かけにもどうぞ。（笑）
こじんまりした本なのに、ちょっと割高にかんじたので、星４つ。
内容は星５つです。
